"First time being here and let me tell you that it was a good experience. Arthur was my boy’s barber, he was cleaned up my boys hair. He knows what he is doing. The shop was clean and they had music playing in the background, I asked why they weren’t playing the last weeks of football before playoffs, one of the barbers said “you right” and put on the game on all the TVs. Today was a rainy day but the didn’t stop people from showing up. Arthur put a smile on my boys face and he liked his haircut, ready for School with a fresh cut. Elite barbershop is the real deal. "Got a haircut from Sal. Website was a bit confusing and ended up choosing wrong service but he was still cool about it and did it anyways. Very versatile. Environment is very friendly and welcoming and I didn’t really feel the tension others talk about. Brought in a lot of pictures and videos of what I wanted along with example photos of what I didn’t want to ensure it was as thorough as possible. Even went over the fact that I wanted my bangs long and covering over my eyes I believe 4 times. It was morning so I don’t know if he was tired or something but he simply glanced at it and didn’t actually seem to pay attention to my steps and instructions. Ordinarily I’m used to a barber walking through my instructions and what I want in an in depth breakdown since that’s essentially what I’m paying for. He did no such thing and simply looked at the pictures, whether he looked at all of them is something I dunno since he was behind me. As you can see in pictures though, said instructions were not followed or listened to as well as I had hoped. It sucks because I had grown my hair out for longer bangs. I was told over phone that the service would be a normal haircut but was informed it was actually a scissor cut instead when seated. Sal seemed more invested in specifying the duration of the cut than actually asking questions or listening to what it is I even wanted. Was just yapping to myself which is not something you wanna feel when you’re paying to get a haircut. I understand that it would seem like an inconvenience to have to do a longer cut when the appointment was for a shorter service, but at least pay attention if you’re gonna do it anyway, yknow? I struggle with growing my hair out as it grows out faster in volume than actual length, so this really sets me back a lot. I asked for a cut that’ll allow me to grow my hair into a shag but showed what I wanted it to look like now (image 2). That way I would still have some confidence even while I waited for it to marinate. I haven’t seen the finished product yet so I’m hoping it’ll grow out the way I wanted like shown in the third picture maybe in a month or two. Sal sounded like he knew what he was doing at least. I’m not really sure if the cut was good yet since it’s still in the baby stage. I had hoped the baby stage would look good but instead I was just ignored. I put my trust in him since the reviews ranked high and he didn’t ask for the pictures when I asked if he needed them. I had simply assumed he had saw it and knew what to do since it’s not like a textured fringe is something new. My hair is really thick and looks rather flat and dry so I really wanted to make it look as light as it does in second picture. Instead I got the bangs really high, and because of it, my hair looks dry instead of flowing strands as it ordinarily does. Again, this is the baby stage so I guess I can’t really say much since it hasn’t grown out yet, but I had brought so many pictures to make sure he knew what I didn’t want. I didn’t want short bangs. Considering the fact that bangs are the first thing anyone even sees, it really sucks that they were messed up. The service was going to cost more but I guess he just charged me the original $50 for a normal cut. I would show gratitude for this but $50 is already expensive as is. Especially if you won’t be heard or given what you came in for. All in all, I would rate this a 2/5 since atmosphere was welcoming and every other angle of haircut looks great, but I put a 3 since I still haven’t seen the finished product and who knows maybe this will be exactly what I asked for. It sucks cuz haircut looks like it could’ve been so good if the bangs were actually kept long as I instructed several times. This is exactly why I always feared barbers since they always find a way to mess up bangs one way or another. Experience felt like I was inconveniencing bro for having chosen the wrong option which threw off the vibe. That isn’t something you wanna feel when it wasn’t your fault in the slightest nor when you’re paying $50 in this economy."
